Thorns and Fire Chapter 1A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away….
THORNS AND FIRE
The shadows of the Sith have fallen upon the galaxy. With the destruction of the Confederacy of Independent Systems and the dissolution of the Jedi Order, Palpatine’s plot to transform the Republic into the Galactic Empire is complete.
Even as the Emperor continues his campaign against the survivors of Order 66, Darth Sidious secretly fears the existence of a creation of his own making from the labs of NIMH—mice and rats that he has made attuned to the FORCE itself.
In the midst of the Emperor’s schemes to retrieve and corrupt the animals, a young field mouse, who has had previous dealings with the experiment, is about to stumble into the chaos and uncover terrible secrets that could tear her family apart...
I never thought that this day would come. It has been six years since we have escaped from the terrible cruelty of NIMH and i
A different Secret of NIMH Chapter 3"BRIIIIISBY!" A voice yelled outside the Brisby Home. "BRIIISBY!"
"Oh, Auntie Shrew" Teresa said with a smile.
"Oh, Auntie!" Cynthia said eagerly.
"Oh no!" Martin groaned.
"BRIIISBY!" Auntie shrew yelled.
"She'll wake up Timmy and Daddy!" Teresa said, giving the door to her parent's room a quick look. She ran to the door that led to the stairs. "She's not here!" she said.
"Why is she always coming around here,
poking her nose in where she's not wanted?" Martin said, walking to their room.
"Martin!" Teresa scolded.
Auntie Shrew entered the room. Teresa helped her getting of her large blue cloak. "Thank you child. I must speak with your mother and father." She said, walking to the living room, leaving Teresa with the big cloak.
"Your auntie is exhausted." She said, starting to walk around the table. "Why me? That I alone should be responsible for the welfare of the entire field is monstrous. BRISBY!"
"Mother isn't here." Teresa said, hanging the cloak on one of the holders.
A different Secret of NIMH Chapter 2"But Jonathan " Joanna tried.
"No 'but Jonathan', Joanna." Jonathan said, slowly sitting up from his bed, grunting at his aching wounds. "Timothy's getting worse and the only one who can possibly know what's wrong with him is ."
"Mr. Ages, I know." Joanna said. "But I don't want to leave him or you alone."
"The kids are here, I am in the neighborhood to boss them around and Aunt Shrew is a yell away." Jonathan said with a smile. "We'll be fine."
Joanna smiled. "I know."
Jonathan grinned and slowly stood up. "I'd be more fine IF I could sit in my favorite chair in the living room, so I could watch the kids and "
Joanna gently pushed him back in bed. "YOU are NOT going anywhere, Mr. Brisby." She said sternly, with a smile.
"I know but you can't blame a guy for trying, can't you, Mrs. Brisby?" Jonathan answered back with a smile.
Joanna kissed him on the cheek. "I know you're been feeling better lately, but it has only been a week since you barely survived th
NIMH Planet of the Rats chapter 25Chapter 25 Sir Josh The Quaestor
The Rat Garrison, led by Justin and Brutus hurryingly made their way through the dark of night towards where they had seen the pod come in to land. After losing Josh's signal hours ago, Nicodemus had ordered the army to get ready to move in, in a last-ditch effort to get him out of there. Then, the familiar alien sound of Josh's flying machine was heard on the horizon. Their human friend had made it!
While the soldiers held curious peasants and other spectators at bay, Justin and Brutus approached the grounded pod. The spacecraft's blast-tubes were still smoking hot, turning the cold night air thick with mist. The canopy was open, so they had no trouble reaching inside the cockpit. The sight of the battered Josh lying unconscious and bleeding out in his seat, cradling the similarly unconscious and ailing Timothy Brisby on his lap, made both the battle-hardened Rats cringe.
"Help me move him out! Quick!"
They lifted Josh out of the pod and laid hi
NIMH Planet of the Rats chapter 23Chapter 23 Escape Plan
Josh stared in amazement at Jonathan Brisby, unable to believe his eyes. Ever since his visit to Thorn Valley, he, like his friends, believed Elizabeth's husband to have been killed by the Exiles, who sought to steal the Stone from him. To discover that Jonathan was still alive after all these years, in Exile captivity, was beyond belief. Why would these brutish, cannibalistic ruffians spare him if they'd gotten what they wanted? He suddenly felt a wave of shame and embarrassment sweep over him; he had been courting Elizabeth, not realising her husband was actually still alive!
Meanwhile, Jonathan was staring at this unexpected newcomer his captors had dragged in looking as if he had been nailed to the floor, his face blank with amazement. Josh couldn't blame him; how often did the rodent inhabitants of this strange planet see a real flesh-and-blood human, the greatest taboo in their religion, standing before them? Blimey, I do hope he doesn't sh
